Discover Books: Story + STEAM = Fun!
Explore books through storytelling, play and creation. Books and story will help you design and build a city, launch an offensive with marshmallow catapults, weave magic carpets, and take you on a great adventure. This camp will run June 12-16 from 9am-11am and is open to students entering Grades 3-5.

For your classroom, storytime, or snuggling with your little ones, you must check out Joseph Kuefler's beautiful picture books - Beyond the Pond and Rulers of the Playground! He has 3 to 4 more books in the works too so keep your eyes open. In both books, the images are sure to delight and the messages included are ones that will lead to great discussions.
Recently, about a dozen of our 7th and 8th grade students attended English Fest at UW-Parkside. Each student read 6 of the required books and had the chance to spend the day participating in fun workshops like Skyping with an author, creating a writing journal, and solving a Breakout box game. It was a little chilly outside, but our first knitted art installation has been installed on campus! Check out the courtyard off the SRC, Dining Room, and 4th Grade classrooms for a colorful start to the week.
During conferences, our students in Stay and Play embraced the opportunity to learn how to finger-knit. Some scarf are heading home while other projects are staying at school for the art installation.
Families are welcome to join us tomorrow, Saturday, February 25th from 9:30 a.m. to noon to create knitted and crocheted artwork. Don't know how to knit? No worries, experts will be on hand to get you started! If you're an expert, please come share your knowledge and enjoy the company and treats. Everyone is welcome back at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18th to help decorate campus by turning our handcrafted yarn creations into beautiful art. If you are unable to attend but would like to participate, please consider working on bright, scarf-like pieces at home. These and/or any yarn donations can be dropped off in the SRC.
